Why Do Some People Attempt Suicide and What the Bible Says About It
I know this is not an easy thing to talk about. But sometimes, the hardest conversations are the ones we need most. Suicide is real. It is not just a headline or a sad scene in a movie. It happens to real people. People we love. People who smile on the outside but are breaking on the inside.
When someone reaches that point, it is almost never because they simply want to die. Most of the time, they just want the pain to stop.
Why Some People Reach This Point?
There are so many reasons, but here are some of the deepest ones:
Depression and mental battles
Everyday life can feel like an impossible weight when you are fighting something inside your mind and heart.
Hopelessness
When the future feels like a blank, dark road, it is hard to keep walking.
Trauma and abuse
Old wounds that never healed can hurt so much that living feels unbearable.
Heavy life pressures
Losing a loved one, losing stability, or losing yourself can crush your soul.
Loneliness
Sometimes the loudest pain is the silence of feeling unseen and unloved.
If you have ever felt this way, please know this. You are not weak. You are human. Pain can change the way we see everything, but pain is not the end of your story.
What the Bible Reminds Us
The Bible does not hide the truth that people of faith have faced deep despair.
Elijah begged God to take his life. Job wished he had never been born. Yet God did not turn away from them. He met them in their pain. He gave them comfort, strength, and a reason to keep going.
God’s Word tells us:
You are wonderfully made
Psalm 139:13-14 says God knit you together in your mother’s womb. Your life is precious to Him.
God is near to the broken
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
There is hope
Jeremiah 29:11 says God has plans to give you a future and a hope, even when you cannot see it yet.
We are meant to help each other
Galatians 6:2 calls us to carry each other’s burdens. You do not have to walk this road alone.
If You Are Struggling Right Now
Please hear me. You are loved. You matter. This world is not better without you. Your story is not finished yet.
Talk to someone you trust. Call a friend. Message a family member. Find a counselor or your friend who will listen without judging. Pray, even if you feel like God is far away. He hears you.
You might feel like you are drowning in the dark. But even in the deepest night, there is still a light. Hold on. Please, hold on. The pain you feel right now will not last forever. And one day, you will see that your life was worth living all along.
Kung sa bisaya pa “Ayaw na ug buhata unsa mana nga problema sangko nas langit na nga problema?”
